The Tornado is a classic American high-performance speedboat, admired for its aggressive stance, powerful presence, and confident handling at speed. Designed for enthusiasts who appreciate raw performance and mechanical authenticity, the Tornado captures the bold spirit of traditional inboard-powered speedboats—fast, purposeful, and visually commanding.

This 30 inches custom-made scale model is handcrafted upon request, faithfully recreating the Tornado’s deep vee-bottom hull, flaring anti-trip chines, and distinctive low-profile silhouette. Built using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method with interlocking structural elements, the model reflects the strength and engineering integrity of the original design. Each project requires approximately 4–5 months of meticulous craftsmanship.

Every defining detail is carefully interpreted, from the smooth tumblehome at the transom and exposed inboard engine layout to the deep bucket seating and clean deck lines. Throughout the production process, you will receive photo updates at each key stage, allowing you to review and approve progress before moving forward:

- Hull framing and planking
- Deck structure, cockpit, and seating details
- Final painting, varnishing, and finishing touches

Once completed and approved, the model will be securely packed in a custom-built wooden crate with reinforced protection, ensuring safe international delivery.

History:

Fernand’s Tornado Speed Boat was created for one purpose: delivering raw, show-stopping speed on the water. With its low profile, generous beam, and sleek, flared sides that taper into a smooth tumblehome near the transom, the Tornado was designed to stay stable even at high velocity and in tight turns. Its stern-mounted engine—typically paired with an overdriving v-drive—sits proudly exposed, celebrating the powerplant at the heart of every fast-boat enthusiast’s dream.

Built using an interlocking stringer-and-frame method that makes the motor stringers the structural backbone, the Tornado is both rugged and straightforward to construct. As test rider Joel Bouchard noted of the boat built by his father Fernand, the Tornado delivers a solid, enjoyable ride even in choppy, crowded waters—true to its intent as a high-performance speed machine.
